Complementary Therapists

Charity’s Help For Patients

Leukaemia patients are benefiting from complementary therapy. The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust is fully funding Carrie-Ann Adams as its Complementary Therapist at Worcester Royal Hospital.

We are delighted to have Carrie-Ann on board. This is a great step in patient care as complementary therapy makes such a difference to a patient’s well-being.

As a former patient, Carrie-Ann has a wide knowledge of leukaemia. In 2003 she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia and gained remission following chemotherapy treatment. Two years later she relapsed with her only hope being a bone marrow transplant. Luckily her older brother Gavin was a suitable match and she underwent a transplant in 2005. During Carrie-Ann’s illness she received not only conventional treatment, but also complementary therapy. She found it to be a huge benefit and following a successful return to health, Carrie-Ann gained qualifications in this field. She is now in the position to offer this support and care to others.

Carrie-Ann said ”I’m finding it an enjoyable role and there has been a really good response from patients”. It is good to have the flexibility of spending as much or as little time as a patient needs. During this time they also may have questions, worries or concerns they wish to off load.”

The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust had been searching for a suitable candidate for this position and is delighted to welcome Carrie-Ann.

Congratulations to Carrie-Ann and Christian Adams on the occasion of their wedding on August 27th 2011.
