Tracy Sollis Trust a Finalist in this year’s Anthony Nolan Supporter Awards

The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust has been named as a finalist in this year’s Anthony Nolan Supporter Awards! (ANSAs).

The Trust has been recognised by the pioneering blood cancer charity for their dedication to raising both money and awareness.

The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust, set up by Sue Sollis in memory of her daughter Tracy who lost her battle with leukaemia in 1995, have been shortlisted in the Group Fundraiser of the Year category.

In 1995 Sue launched a one hundred thousand pound appeal to fund a research laboratory for the Anthony Nolan research Institute.  The success of this project resulted in a laboratory named after Tracy.

Sue Sollis set up the Trust in 1998 to help fund research into finding a cure for leukaemia. Over the past twenty years the trust has donated and funded essential equipment to the Anthony Nolan Research Institute. Additionally, Sue raises awareness of Anthony Nolan by giving talks and seminars to the public and at her local school, she opened two charity shops in Evesham’s Library Arcade and organises an annual charity concert takes place in aid of the Trust.

Upon hearing the news of being shortlisted, Sue Sollis said,

‘It’s a great honour to be associated with a life-saving organisation. Tracy’s transplant didn’t work out, but she was always concerned about the other children in the hospital finding their match.

Whenever there was a campaign to find a donor Tracy made it very clear that it wasn’t just her, there were others that needed a transplant. Her wish was that we could do something to help others, so it is great to be recognised, her life wasn’t in vain.

Henny Braund, Chief Executive of Anthony Nolan, says:

‘Congratulations to The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust on being shortlisted in the 2018 Anthony Nolan Supporter Awards.

‘Every day at least five people begin their search for a matching unrelated stem cell donor to treat their blood cancer or blood disorder. We’re incredibly lucky to have so many people supporting Anthony Nolan’s vital work to find a match for everyone in need of a lifesaving transplant.

‘We want to say a massive thank you, and congratulations, to The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia trust and we are looking forward to celebrating with Sue Sollis at the Tower of London.’

The awards ceremony will take place on 22nd November at the Tower of London. For more information on the Anthony Nolan Supporter Awards please visit, www.anthonynolan.org/awards.
